The goblin-like sandstone rocks in the State of Utah in the US, are technically known as hoodoos. Hoodoos are tall shapes formed when the natural elements wear and erode at the outer layers of rock. The area was once called Mushroom Valley, because of the rocks in the area that are mushroom shapes. It is now called the Goblin Valley State Park due to the numbers of hoodoo rocks with a goblin-like appearance.
