Edinburgh Castle in Scotland is on an ancient volcanic rock. Archaeological evidence indicates it may be the longest occupied location in Scotland. The Castle has been the site of many sieges in Scotland’s history of fighting for independence. It has also been a royal palace, a military barracks, and a prison. Reports of ghostly activity at the castle include feelings of being uneasy and unwelcome and shadows on the walls. Some believe they are from the women tortured and executed there during Scotland’s witchcraft trials. There are also stories of a headless drummer boy, and sounds of a bagpiper trapped in underground tunnels.
