11. Poveglia Island, Italy
Poveglia Island is a small island in northern Italy just off the coast from Lido and Venice. Over the years it has been a fort, a place for the isolation and quarantine, and more recently it was an asylum for the mentally ill. Rumour has it one of the psychiatrists during that period committed suicide on the site. He apparently jumped from the tower at the bidding of the lost souls that had died on the island.
