8. Harbin Ice Festival, Heilongjiang Province
The biggest ice and snow sculpture festival in the world, the Harbin Ice Festival is an annual event. The chilly north-easterly winds that come down from Siberia keep the festival running for a month in January each year. The main exhibition areas include illuminated and accessible buildings – full size and made of ice. There are also stunning ice sculptures throughout the city over the season.
