7. Potala Palace, Tibet
The Potala Palace in Tibet housed Tibetan Dalai Lama from the mid-1600s until the late 1950s. The Palace is 3700 meters above sea level – the highest in the world. On its footprint of around 67,000 square meters, there are a total of 13 stories and over 1000 rooms. The Palace holds many impressive Tibetan murals and art.
